Jerry Yule
Quietly, in his sleep
Death came to Jerry Yule in the only way and on the only day it could,
sneaking up on him in the dark hours of sleep, on Friday, July 13, 2007.
Jerry was a composer in Hollywood for many years, and a well-known
pianist in the California, Las Vegas, and Dallas arts communities.
He was the stepbrother of the world-famous movie star actor Mickey
Rooney, and his adoptive father was the renowned actor Joe Yule.
Jerry leaves behind four sons, Michael, Jeremy, Kenneth, and Shaun, and
7 grandchildren, as well as the pillar of his strength, his
Australian-born wife, Barbara.
As a child prodigy, Jerry performed at the Hollywood Bowl, went on to
complete his musical education, then served his country as a soldier,
touring the world as part of the Army's “Goodwill Ambassador” Special
Services contingent. After leaving Hollywood for Dallas, Jerry
became a familiar figure in the North Texas area, performing at upscale
night clubs and restaurants. He also played tennis at the
semi-professional level, until his declining health made him give up the
sport he loved.
At the end, Jerry was still active in the entertainment world, and was
considering an offer from a West Coast producer to compose the theme
music for a film currently in pre-production.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held by friends and family.
